Electrolytic Polishing

Electropolishing is a material-removal process that anodically removes metal using specially balanced electrolytes. The workpiece acts as the anode in an electrochemical cell. Electropolishing reduces micro-level roughness while maintaining macro-level structures. Edges and corners are reduced more strongly, resulting in fine deburring across the entire surface.
Chromium and chromium-nickel steels are most frequently electropolished. Workpieces treated in this way are significantly more corrosion-resistant. Electropolishing gives stainless steel very specific properties. The electropolished surface becomes exceptionally smooth and can be used for all decorative purposes. In particular, the shiny metallic appearance is fully emphasized.
